April 13, 2020, by Danielle Ellis
I've been a Badcock customer since 2006 and Saturday, December 9th was my first issue with one of their products. My Samsung TV picture went out (first time in my 33 years a TV had gone out) but I digress. Nonetheless, I called the store and spoke with Ms. Donna - who confirmed my purchase date was 12/29/2016 and I had an extended warranty. She gave me the Samsung customer support number and I called to schedule a tech visit. Much to my surprise Samsung required the purchase order before service can be given - ok. So after my workout Saturday morning I went by Badcock on Brandon Blvd where I was greeted by Billy, I explained my situation and Billy began to look up my account. I requested Billy to email the document to Samsung as requested but he said they were not allowed to do so. Billy walks away from me and says he is just a sales agent and Don will help. Don, the manager casually walks up without introduction staring me in my face. I explain my situation again as Don starts to look up my account. He says he cannot email, I suggest faxing and he agrees. I provide the information to Don to call Samsung, which he does. He provides a copy of the faxed document, the fax number, and his business card. Fast-forward to Monday, December 11th – Samsung calls and advise the purchase order states 2014. So I call Don at Badcock and explain the same and he advises he knew that on Saturday but did not disclose that information to me to avoid answering further questions. He advised that he spoke with Donna after he realized she gave me the wrong date and that he did not notify me to avoid further communication with. He then proceeded to say he has seen televisions break often and more frequently than four years and Badcock warranty only extends past one year and after that – the customer is on their own. I asked Don what was his remedy for a loyal customer in this situation? He said NOTHING! There is absolutely nothing I can do for you. He told me to call the corporate office and that’s what I did. Lastly, before ending the call I suggested that a good manager would offer a loyal customer a discount or some type of incentive especially because you omitted pertinent information that would save wasted time, Don then offered a discount but also said I cannot promise anything. However, I would not be a customer of Badcock any longer no matter the discount if Don is representation of their care for their customer. In fact, I am on phone now closing my account. I will be getting rid of the rest of Badcock furniture as well. Be careful who you do business with consumers.
