  Store is nice and busy. Good for live animals 'as-is' and feeders that you can't buy online or from corporate petstores. Owner is very knowledgeable and friendly, but checkout staff consistently lousy. Don't buy general merchandise or accessories as they won't refund anything even if unopened with receipt. Old fashioned and unnecessarily rigid refund and transaction policies (high min charge on purchases) from the distant past before consumers had online purchase options. caveat emptor!

  My husband and I are frequent shopper at Species. We are in about twice a month for feeder fish and black worms. They have a pretty large selection of fish, reptiles, birds, and small mammals. The prices are competitive with other shops in the area. You have to check out the rewards program for feeder fish and mealworms. The employees are always polite, helpful, and apologetic if you have to wait. We love, love, love our two kittens we adopted from them! I also recently purchased a cichlid that has made a beautiful addition to our 55 gallon set up. Thanks Species staff, See you soon.
